Coach & Training Provider Terms

Last updated: 11 May 2026

These extra terms apply if you list coaching services on Badminton Village. They are in addition to the main Terms of Service.

1. Who can list as a coach

  • You must be the actual coach (or an authorised representative of the training organisation).
  • You must be legally entitled to work as a coach in New Zealand (e.g. valid visa if applicable, no relevant disqualifications).
  • Junior coaching (under-18 students): you must have a current police vetting and follow Sport NZ's Child Protection guidelines. We may ask you to confirm this.
  • Claims about qualifications (NZ Badminton accreditation, level certifications, national/international playing experience) must be accurate. We may verify.

2. Listing accuracy

Your profile, hourly rate, availability, specialties, and bio must be accurate. Update them if anything changes. Don't imply endorsements you don't have.

3. Bookings and cancellations

  • You set your own cancellation policy — cutoff, forfeit %, late- cancel rules. These are shown to clients at checkout.
  • You must honour confirmed bookings. If you cancel, the platform refunds the client in full automatically.
  • You can pause new bookings anytime by hiding your profile.

4. Payments

  • Online payments flow through your Stripe Connected Account. We never see your bank details.
  • The platform fee on coaching bookings is paid by the client, not you. You receive your full hourly rate (subject to Stripe's standard processing).
  • Promo codes you create at the Premium tier reduce your take, not ours.

5. Conduct standards

  • Treat all students with respect, regardless of skill, age, race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or religion.
  • Don't solicit students to take bookings off-platform after they've been introduced through Badminton Village — this is a breach of our terms. We don't enforce it as a contractual restraint of trade, but it's a reason we may close your account.
  • No harassment, discrimination, or inappropriate physical contact. Zero tolerance — single substantiated reports lead to permanent removal.

6. Insurance

We strongly recommend you carry public liability insurance for coaching activities. Badminton Village does not provide coverage on your behalf. ACC covers personal injury in New Zealand, but not property damage or claims of negligence in service delivery.

7. Reviews

Students can review you. You can respond. We may remove reviews that breach our Acceptable Use Policy or contain unsubstantiated defamatory claims.

8. Featured placement

Featured Coach and Premium Coach subscriptions have their own rules — see Featured Placement Terms. In short: you pay a monthly fee, you can try each tier free for 30 days once, you can cancel anytime, your placement runs to the period end.

9. Premium-tier lead routing

If you subscribe to Premium Coach, the platform may notify you (by email and push) when nearby players search for coaching matching your specialties. We never give the player's personal contact info without their explicit consent to be contacted by you.

10. Tax

You're responsible for your own tax. Coaching fees are GST-able if you're GST-registered. We provide invoices on our platform fees.

11. Suspension and removal

We can suspend or remove a coach profile for:

  • Conduct breaches as above.
  • Repeated cancellations / no-shows on confirmed bookings.
  • Multiple verified complaints of poor service or unprofessionalism.
  • Misrepresentation of qualifications.
